Incredible Bollywood Singers

in last article we have enjoyed listening songs in the voices of maestro composers from golden era of Bollywood music like O. P. Nayyar, Madan Mohan, Jaikishan, Ravi and Usha Khanna.

Just like them some actors, actress, lyricists were also fond of singing, and had skill of singing. Unfortunately they could not come up as regular singers. Today we will listen to these unknown voices. (Some the songs being rare/live recorded and not from original sound track, sound quality may not be good).

Along with the above mentioned musicians, Biswajeet and Mala Sinha, the leading actors of the 60’s, were also good at singing. But unfortunately no one used Biswajeet voices as a singer. Bishwajeet has worked with musicians like Hemant Kumar, SJ, OP, RD. He also had a close relationship with HK, RD, but no one seems to have used Vishwajit’s voice. Mala Sinha was a regular singer on All India Radio. Her voice is used only once in Hindi films. Both of them have been singing regularly in live programs (Orchestras) at home and abroad since they stopped working in films. Let’s listen to the songs sung by actor Biswajeet and actress Mala Sinha.

First we will listen to song sung by and pictured on Actress Mala Sinha

Later, he has given voice in Qawwali in the film ‘Sholay’, which did not appear on the screen. Anand Bakshi has shown his singing talent to the audience in the song ‘Ke Aaja Teri Yaad Aaye’ from the 1976’s film ‘Charas’. Let’s listen to some songs sung by Anand Bakshi.

The film has not been released, but all five of the films are available on YouTube. Let us now watch the songs sung by Shabana Azmi and pictured on her.

Bollywood Diva Rekha has also got singing talent. She has sung two songs in the 1980’s film ‘Khoobsurat’. Let’s watch one of them now. The second song is omitted because it has too much prose.

Song: “Kayda Tod Ke, Socho Ek Din’, Film: Khoobsurat (1980), Lyricist: Gulzar, Composer: R. D. Burman, Singer: Rekha & Sapan Chakraborty

Bollywood Dream girl Hema Malini, Sridevi and other singers have also lent their voices to the song. But those songs are not mentioned because it is just a form of humming or saying a few words or sentences in a prose. Aamir Khan and other male actors who sang prose in ‘Aati Kya Khandala’ have also been left out.

Hindi film music has numerous songs, so some known songs and unknown songs of the same type are still left. As the new songs are found they will be reintroduced to you.
